DAV TRANSPORTATION REPORT:
In October,
11 veterans were transported to the VA Medical Center, with 663 miles
driven. November the DAV Van traveled 646 miles
transporting 8 veterans to and from the VA Medical Center in Asheville
for scheduled appointments.
DAV 43 & AUX. MEETING:
December
28, the DAV and Aux. will not hold their regular scheduled meetings.
DAV & AUX. 9th DISTRICT
MEETING:
January19-21 The DAV
& Aux. will hold their annual 9th District Meeting at the Landmark Resort
Hotel in
DAV & AUX. MEETINGS:
January
25, 2007 DAV and Aux will hold their regular scheduled
meetings. Eat at 6:PM
with meetings to follow…..
CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES AT
AVAMC:
On December
18th volunteers will gather at the VAMC to wrap and pack Christmas Gifts
for the patients at Asheville VAMC. Each
year workers from all over the western part of NC come to wrap and pack gifts
for our hospitalized veterans. If you
haven’t had the chance to do this, now is the time. It is a fun filled time. The
Van will leave 10:AM
On December
20th all these gifts will be distributed throughout the
DAV CHAPTER 43 MEMBERSHIP:
We need your
help to secure new member for Our Chapter and Auxiliary. Your wife, mother, daughters, sisters, and
granddaughters are eligible for the DAV Auxiliary, and now your sons and
grandsons are eligible to join as well.
Remember if you know any veteran, or spouse, 80 years or older who is eligible
for membership please sign them up for free life membership. At the time of this newsletter we are 18
short of quota. The Auxiliary is also
participating in this program, and they are 4 short of quota at this time.
DAV & AUX. Bingo:
February 20th the DAV and
Auxiliary will hold our regular scheduled Bingo program at Asheville VAMC in
the ECRC (nursing home) Unit. We plan
for the musical group to be there with us again. We need workers and food for about 25
patients. The van will leave DAV at
10:AM.

DAV TRANSPORTATION REPORT:
In September
the DAV Van traveled 625 miles .transporting 9 veterans to and from the VA
Medical Center in Asheville for scheduled appointments.
DAV 43 & AUX. MEETING:
October 26th the DAV and Aux. will hold
their regular scheduled meetings after a joint meal at 6:00 PM. Our fundraiser drawing for the Husqvarna Back Pack Leaf Blower, will be held after the meetings. I hope you sold lots of tickets at the Burke
County Fair last week. Thanks for all your hard work and support
for this fundraiser.
A special thank you to Sam
Young and Betty Anderson for the
donation of $200.00 for the purchase the
Husqvarna Back Pack Leaf Blower for our fundraiser
this fall, and to Glenn England for the $100.00 donation to be used for our
chapter transportation program..

& AUX. FALL cONFERENCE:
October 27-29, The DAV & Aux. will hold
their annual Fall Conference at the North Raleigh Hilton. Bob and Charlie will leave for
On October
30th the Patients at Asheville VAMC will take part in the annual Casino
Night Program sponsored by various organizations, and individuals. This is a fun time for all who
participate. Tickets are given to each
patient as they enter the Casino; the tickets are used to play various games of
chance. As they win they keep their
ticket and are paid in quarters, if they loose their ticket is taken and they
must play another ticket or go to another gamming table and start over. All and all we spend $100.00 or better, not
to mention food cost and the other organizations expenditures...Van will leave
at 5:PM.
VOLUNTEER ORENTATION:
On November
6th, normally the first Monday of the month, the
volunteer orientation will be held
at 12 noon. Volunteers are required to have the orientation each
year, written, or oral, in order to remain on the roles as a volunteer at
Asheville VAMC. If you are only a DAV
Van Driver you are not required to take this orientation, but there is an
orientation for drivers and you must take it, see Eric Dillingham.
VETERANS
DAY ACTIVITIES
The annual Veterans Day Breakfast will be held at the DAV on Saturday, November 11, from 7-9 AM. FREE for any & all veterans. The meal will consist of Scrambled Eggs,
Grits, Sausage Gravy, Hot Biscuits, Jelly and Butter, Juice and plenty of Hot
Coffee. The Veterans Day service will
begin with music at 10: AM at the Court House, and the regular program will be
at 11:00 AM, conducted by Nancy Duckworth, County Veterans Service
Officer. Please try to attend the
service to show your support for the veterans of our country.
DAV & Aux. Bingo:

November 23rd this is Thanksgiving Day, also no meetings on December 28th. Our Christmas dinner will be December 16th at 6:PM. Remember to
bring a $5.00 gift suitable for a man or women. Freshen up on your Christmas carols you may
need it.
